Earl T. Gant

Earl T. Gant 84, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:50 P.M., Saturday, May 25, 2002 at the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Earl was a member of the First Christian Church of Du Quoin. Earl was a retired auto mechanic, he had worked at the Chevrolet garage for 20 years and had worked at Sims Motor for 10 years. He was a US Navy veteran of W.W. II. He was a Life member of the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion.
He was born December 23, 1917 at St. Johns, IL the son of Charlie and Myrtle A. (Mifflin) Gant.
He married Lillie Elizabeth Poole on April 8, 1938 at Mt. Vernon, IN, she passed away May 29, 1998.
He is survived by three daughters- Robin Leehy and husband Kevin of Du Quoin, Rosemary Stein and Helen Blair, four grandchildren- Brandon, Thomas, Kristen and Kody Leehy, two great grandchildren- Haley and Kenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son- Thomas Wayne Gant, brothers- Pete, Larry, Ernie, sisters- Dorie and Mary Alice, step brother- Matthew Kennedy.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Merle Macke officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Elkville Cemetery.
